What happens when a Black woman and a white woman get into a room with friends and strangers and share their lived experiences of their racism and anti-racism journeys? Really good things. A lot of comments from the audience afterwards of “more please.”  Dawn L. Johnson, a life coach and owner of The Dawn Johnson Experience and myself, Renita Faye, founder and CEO of Addwomxn co-hosted a program titled, “Feeling Our Way Beyond Allyship: A Fireside Chat,” for Twin Cities Startup Week. A sold out crowd was in attendance, made up of mostly women, coming in community to hear about how we – as white women – need to do be...

International Day of the Girl

Date: December 20, 2022

By: Audra Robinson

International Day Of The Girl is a United Nations Holiday acknowledging the state of girls throughout the world.  As I was building my brand, Rocky Robinson Self-Care for Girls, I wanted to put my stake in the ground around a signature event that celebrated and empowered girls. Addwomxn was the perfect agency to bring diverse thinking and great creative design to what will be an annual event. With a thought-out strategy and great creative and PR support provided by the Addwomxn team, we pulled off an amazing event. On Saturday, October 15, with the partnership of Addwomxn, we had a day of celebration to empower girls and give them the tools they need to dream a brighter future an...

Reporter Ethan Nelson’s December 1 article in the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal scored Minnesota companies on DEI initiatives. Last year was the first year the business publication began tracking employer diversity, ranking companies based on the percentage of their employees who don’t identify as white, who are executives, on boards of directors, and who have ownership in the company. The lists cover small, medium, and large public and private companies, nonprofits and government entities. Lots of household names are am...

Authentically Addwomxn: The Launch Party

Date: September 28, 2021

The mood was celebratory and filled with curiosity about Addwomxn at our launch party September 23 at ModernWell. And we were more than happy to welcome in the community of women that attended, several of whom we’d built relationships with only virtually until this event. Oversized joyous balloons, signage to share creative industry stats and pique curiosity, and clever individual charcuterie cups by Nosh & Gather set the stage for in-person conversation. It felt great to gather!

Connecting Through Affinity

Early in the evening company founder Renita shared all that is Addwomxn -- from its decade-long incubation as a wild idea to its fru...

Why X? Because we want to become Xtinct

Women are at the heart and soul of this new venture called Addwomxn. We are excellent communicators when we come together to nurture and empower each other. Our hope is that someday Addwomxn will be obsolete (or rather, Xtinct) because a mindset of abundance – in the workplace, in our communities – has affected change. Already as Addwomxn, people immersive in all cultures have seen us. Something transformative happens when we receive kind, contextual and educational feedback from others (thank you, The Coven, Addwomxn Ally, we see you). We listen, become more informed through conversations, remain uncomfortable as needed, and explore. Th...

Welcome to Addwomxn

A women-centric creative collaborative is popping up in the Twin Cities. Under its umbrella, creativity and diversity can flourish in the spirit of honoring humanity and nurturing entrepreneurship and creative talent. It’s called Addwomxn.   The Name Addwomxn has evoked many responses as its founder Renita Faye of Affina Design and board members Janice Stanford, Flygirl Creative; Aaron King, Perceptiv; and Jen Gilhoi, Sparktrack, have been sharing it and spelling it in conversation since early 2021 (nope, no space in between words; and yes, with an “x”!). For some, hearing the name opened the doors of the Madison Avenue ad agency Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce...
