Dawn has been described as having “an armor about her that evokes an athlete, and a deeper emotional side that’s warm and inviting.” A track star at age five, Dawn’s favorite word is flow. She is passionate about being an authentic Black woman who leads with love and serves the needs of others. But what you’ll notice first is her energy.
Dawn’s greatest talent is her innate ability to create a safe space to be vulnerable. Dawn is a mindset and life coach: a motivator, mentor and mission-driven leader with a purpose to positively impact people and communities. Dawn believes to be enlightened and whole you must have a deep understanding of who you are. Having self love, trust, awareness, respect and accountability allows for that deeper knowing and makes space for connections of body, mind and soul.
Dawn gives back to her community through servant leadership as a youth track and field coach and mentor for Youth & Families Determined to Succeed. She is a team track and field meet official for Track MN Elite, which serves over 100 families of youth from all different backgrounds and ethnicities.
Dawn graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. She is a John C. Maxwell Certified Coach and Trainer. She is a racial justice facilitator and does Body Mind Coaching.
In her free time, Dawn likes to do meditation, commune with nature and have quality time with family and friends. She is a proud mom of three independent and thriving young men.
In Dawn’s words, “I appreciate that Addwomxn’s platform is about creating equity (not equality). In and through Addwomxn, I’ve recognized incredible white women holding each other accountable. They show up consistently, stand in the gap, and do the work on my behalf. I also see powerful, strong white women who’ve made the commitment to do the work. Being powerful is new territory for many white women, but Black women are very familiar here – we’ve had no choice but to be. So as a white woman, if you’ve never had dope close proximity with a Black woman, you’re missing out! Make that happen.”
Well said, Dawn. We’re thrilled you’re on our team!
