Addwomxn was founded by Renita Faye — a visionary leader, advocate for diversity, and catalyst for change in the design and marketing industry. Her journey is one of personal growth, resilience, and a deep commitment to equity and inclusion. From her early days as a designer to the founding of Addwomxn, Renita’s experiences have shaped a clear and compelling vision for a more inclusive creative future. Addwomxn evolved into a vibrant, community-driven agency — one dedicated to celebrating diversity, empowering women, and reimagining what leadership in this industry can look like.
Renita’s career began at a Black-owned design firm in Minneapolis, where she was the only white woman on the team. This role-reversal was a transformative experience, exposing her to the importance of diversity in creative work. Collaborating with clients like the Minneapolis Urban League and the NAACP, she saw firsthand how representation drives meaning and trust.
Throughout her career, Renita encountered the challenges many women face in the design and marketing world — being underestimated, sidelined, or overlooked. One pivotal moment came in her first week as an internal Creative Director: when she asked to review the marketing budget, the VP of Marketing responded,“Oh no, you don’t need to know that. You just need to make things pretty.” It was a clear reminder of the systemic barriers women continue to face — and a turning point that fueled her determination to lead differently.
Renita Faye teamed up with Aaron King, Audra Robinson, Janice Stanford, and Jen Gilhoi to form Addwomxn’s Founding Advisory Board. These trusted collaborators helped shape the early vision of Addwomxn—offering insight, creativity, and support that laid the foundation for this collective.
After two decades of shaping brands and leading teams, Renita founded Addwomxn to build something new: a full-service agency grounded in community, purpose, and representation. Sparked in part by the racial reckoning of 2020, Addwomxn was created as a space where diverse women could lead, thrive, and collaborate on work that matters.
